For Teachers & Librarians
A free, ready-to-use writing program that fits into your classroom.
Twice a year, Taradiddle runs a free creative writing contest for writers 18 and under. The prompt is an animal story. The deadline is four days long. There’s no grading load for you, no entry fee for your students, and the top finalists become published authors on Taradiddle.org — judged by a panel of authors, veterinarians, and booksellers.
Designed for the classroom
Free, forever.
No entry fee. No per-student charge. No premium tier. Taradiddle is supported by donations and sponsorships so that every young writer — everywhere — can participate.
Fits your unit plan.
Our contest cycle is a four-day writing window anchored to a public prompt. Use it as the capstone of a narrative writing unit — or as a low-stakes weekend invitation. Word limits are age-appropriate: 500 words for younger writers, 1,000 for older.
Published authors in your class.
Finalists are published as named authors on Taradiddle.org. That’s a tangible outcome you can celebrate with families — and an artifact your students can cite for years.
Connect your school.
When your students are published by Taradiddle, their stories are linked back to your school — so your community can celebrate what they’ve done. Tell us who you are and we’ll get your school set up.
We’re COPPA-compliant and never share your students’ personal details.
